6 MYTHS ABOUT CANNABIS VAPING

Vaping is a subtle, but impactful way to enjoy your kush without all the downsides of smoking like the smell or the hazards that come with burning bud. A vape for cannabis uses lower temperatures than traditional methods of burning weed, so the vaporizer produces vapour rather than smoke and actually allows you to get more out of your hit. When cannabis flower is ignited with a lighter or a match, it loses over 60% of the precious terpene, or flavour and smell, as well as the cannabinoid content, or the psychoactive part. Even worse, your flower is combusting before and after every hit which leads to smoke that isn’t inhaled. If you were to vape the same amount of cannabis, you would receive all of the benefits that were lost when smoked. Some of the best vaping devices boast that it can make over 90% of the plant's terpenes and cannabinoids available to its user!

What are vaporizers?

A vaporizer is an electronic device which heats up your flower to a specific temperature. Rather than igniting the weed, a vaping device will heat up an “oven”-like chamber. As your weed is getting baked, the heat around the herb is only high enough to release vapor with all of that good good. I’m talking about THC, CBD and, of course, all the other terpenes and cannabinoids of your favourite strain.

Is vaporizing healthier than smoking?

Smoking has become more and more taboo in recent years, some say for good measure as it is one of the biggest national health concerns in North America. More than 450,000 people die in the United States each year from smoking cigarettes. So how is vaping any different? Vaporizers emit only vapour, a lower temperature substance which is early in the gas phase, earlier than smoke. Combustion and the smoke that follows occur when temperatures generally above 230 degrees Celsius is applied to the product.

  1. Minimal smell

The first myth that most people believe is that most vapes don’t produce any smell. Unfortunately, I’m here to let you know that vaporizers still leave an odor, it’s just not as noticeable as smoking. This has a lot to do with the temperature that vaporizers work at, most vaporizers work at a low enough temperature that the vapor is thinner than smoke and tends to act more like steam as it dissipates.

2. Better flavour

The second myth is that smoking gives more flavour than vaping. The exact opposite is actually true! Vaping allows the user to experience the complete flavour profile of whatever you are smoking, whether its cannabis, lavender, tobacco or any other smokable herb blends.

3. Save money

The third myth about vaping is that it costs more than smoking. While the upfront costs can seem expensive, the long-term benefits and minimal maintenance cost is worth it. As long as you maintain your device properly through an appropriate cleaning schedule, you might use less weed than you would regularly. Since using a vape won’t burn the cannabis directly, the heat actually just works its way around the herb instead, the same size “bowl” that you’d usually smoke will last much longer.

4. Quick hit convenience

Another myth about vaporizers is that they are bulky and that it’s difficult to bring them with you to events. Modern vaporizers come in smaller, handheld versions that can make it easy to get a hit or two outside of your chosen venue. Being able to access your medicine when you need it in the moment is fundamental, and that's why handheld vaporizers are so popular.

5. Discreet

The myth that vaporizers can’t be discreet enough to use in public has been long forgotten! Dry herb vaporizers now come in a compact size but can still pack a powerful hit with minimal smell. The convenience of not needing a lighter or papers is pretty sweet too.

6. More mellow feeling

Some people might think that the high from using a vape is similar to smoking but the effect is a bit different than smoking a joint or a pipe. If you are someone who prefers a more mellow high or likes to control how much they are consuming at once, a vaping device should be your go to!
